FAQ
Bouncy Castles
What age are your bouncy castles suitable for?
Most of our bouncy castles are designed for children aged 3 to 12 years old, although we also have larger inflatables suitable for teenagers and adults. The age range depends on the design, size, and safety rating of each castle.
Each inflatable comes with clear manufacturer guidelines showing maximum user numbers, height, and age limits. Our team will always recommend the most suitable castle for your event based on the ages of your guests.
For parties with mixed age groups or family events, we can also provide adult bouncy castles or soft play packages so everyone can join in safely.
To learn more about age limits and safety guidance, see our full post: What is the age range appropriate for bouncy castles?
Do you hire adult bouncy castles?
Yes — Carson’s Castles offers a great selection of adult bouncy castles designed for grown-ups and mixed-age events. These inflatables are built using reinforced materials and higher weight limits, so everyone can join in the fun safely.
Our adult-friendly inflatables are ideal for birthdays, weddings, festivals, and corporate events. Popular options include our inflatable nightclub and disco theme castles — both fitted with lighting and optional Bluetooth speakers for a proper party atmosphere.
To check which of our castles are suitable for adult use, just get in touch or browse our full range of bouncy castles for hire in Birmingham.
How many people can go on a bouncy castle at once?
The number of people who can safely use a bouncy castle at once depends on the size and design of the inflatable. Each castle has a manufacturer’s safety label showing the maximum user numbers and recommended age or height limits.
As a general guide, small children’s castles usually hold up to 6 users at a time, while larger units or adult bouncy castles can safely accommodate more — provided weight limits aren’t exceeded.
All Carson’s Castles inflatables are tested to BS EN 14960 safety standards, and we provide clear user guidance with every hire. Our team can also advise on age limits and maximum users when booking to help you plan your event safely.
For a full breakdown and related advice, see our post: How many people can go on a bouncy castle?
Can bouncy castles be used in the rain?
We don’t recommend using bouncy castles in the rain, as wet surfaces can become slippery and unsafe. Most inflatables are made from waterproof materials, but water can pool on top and make it dangerous for children to bounce or climb.
At Carson’s Castles, we monitor the weather closely before every booking. If heavy rain is forecast, we’ll contact you in advance and offer to rearrange your booking free of charge for another day. You’re also welcome to reschedule if the weather changes unexpectedly on the morning of your event.
For light rain or showers, we can still deliver if conditions are safe and the customer is happy to proceed — but we may postpone setups during prolonged or heavy rain for safety reasons.
For full details, see our complete guide: What happens if you hire a bouncy castle and it rains?
Can bouncy castles be used in hot weather?
Yes — Carson’s Castles bouncy castles can be used safely in hot weather, as long as the right precautions are taken. Before children play, always check the surface temperature of the inflatable — vinyl can get hot in direct sunlight, especially during peak summer hours.
We recommend setting up in partial shade wherever possible, keeping children hydrated, and taking regular breaks from play. Our team also checks every setup location to make sure the blower and extension leads remain well-ventilated and protected from heat.
For detailed safety tips and heat guidelines, see our full post: Is a bouncy castle safe to use in hot weather?
Can bouncy castles be used in windy conditions?
For safety reasons, Carson’s Castles does not set up bouncy castles when wind speeds exceed 24mph (38km/h), including gusts. Strong or unpredictable wind can cause inflatables to become unstable, so we always follow strict safety standards set out by BS EN 14960.
Our team checks live wind forecasts before every hire and uses on-site wind meters during setup to confirm safe conditions. If it’s too windy, we’ll rearrange your booking free of charge for another date.
You can also monitor the current forecast using the Wind Tracker on our homepage. For more details, see our full guide: Can bouncy castles be put up in windy conditions?
How much does it cost to hire a bouncy castle?
The cost to hire a bouncy castle in Birmingham varies depending on the size, theme, and hire duration — but most of our standard castles range between £60 and £150 per day.
Smaller castles and toddler setups are at the lower end of the scale, while larger inflatable nightclubs or party packages cost a little more. All prices include delivery, setup, and collection within our local area.
We also offer multi-hire and package discounts when booking more than one inflatable — perfect for schools, events, and large parties.
For a detailed guide with example prices and things to consider, check out our full article: How much does it cost to rent a bouncy castle in the UK?
How much does it cost to run a bouncy castle for a day?
The cost to run a bouncy castle for a full day is surprisingly low! Most standard blowers use between 1,000 and 1,500 watts, meaning they’re roughly as efficient as a hairdryer or kettle when in use.
Based on typical electricity rates, the average cost to run a castle all day is between £1.50 and £5.50 — depending on your local rate per kWh and the blower size.
All of our inflatables are powered by energy-efficient, PAT-tested blowers, so they’re safe, reliable, and affordable to operate. If your event doesn’t have access to mains power, we can also supply generator hire options for outdoor setups.
For a full breakdown and example calculations, see our detailed guide: How much electricity does a bouncy castle use?
What surfaces can a bouncy castle be set up on?
Carson’s Castles can safely set up bouncy castles and inflatables on a variety of surfaces, as long as they’re level and stable. The most suitable surface is grass, as it allows us to anchor the castle securely with heavy-duty pegs.
- Grass: Ideal for outdoor setups — anchors securely using ground stakes.
- Artificial grass or astro turf: Possible, but we’ll use sandbags or weights instead of pegs to avoid damage.
- Hard surfaces (concrete, tarmac, patio): We can set up using industrial sandbags or weights, as long as the area is flat and free from debris.
- Indoor floors (sports halls, venues): Always suitable with protective mats and soft barriers where needed.
If you’re unsure about your surface type, send us a photo or mention it when booking. We’ll confirm what anchoring method is safest for your setup.
For extra guidance, see our related post: Can bouncy castles be put up in windy conditions?
How much space do I need?
Each bouncy castle and inflatable needs enough space for both the unit and safe access around it. As a general rule, allow at least 3ft (1m) of clear space on each side and at the front and back of the castle for blowers, mats, and anchoring points.
For example, a 12ft × 15ft castle will need a total area of roughly 15ft × 20ft (4.5m × 6m). This ensures we can secure it properly and still leave room for safe entry and exit.
We’ll always check your space during setup to make sure everything fits safely. If you’re unsure whether your garden or venue is suitable, send us a few photos or measurements before booking and we’ll confirm which castles will fit best.
Need an option for smaller spaces? Check out our indoor party packages and soft play hire — both perfect for tighter venues or low-ceiling halls.
Can you set up on a slope or uneven ground?
For safety reasons, Carson’s Castles can only set up inflatables on surfaces that are flat and level. Bouncy castles and soft play equipment must be stable and evenly supported to prevent movement or tipping during use.
If your garden or event space has a slight slope, we may still be able to install safely depending on the gradient and surface type. Our team will assess the area during setup and advise whether it’s suitable before inflating.
Unfortunately, we can’t set up on steep slopes or uneven ground where anchoring can’t be guaranteed. If you’re unsure about your space, send us a few photos or details before booking — we’ll confirm what’s possible and suggest the safest option.

How far in advance can I book?

Halls and Venues
How tall are your castles, and which fit in halls?
We offer a range of bouncy castles in different sizes to suit both indoor and outdoor venues. Our H-Style castles are designed for indoor halls with lower ceilings, while our A-Frame castles are better suited for outdoor events where there’s more height clearance.
For indoor venues, we recommend choosing from our under 9ft indoor range, which includes compact bouncy castles and soft play packages that fit comfortably in most community centres and school halls.
If you’re unsure about the available space, just send us the hall name or ceiling height, and we’ll confirm which of our castles will fit safely. You can also get in touch before booking for tailored advice.
Do you undertake risk assessments for venues?
Yes — Carson’s Castles can provide full risk assessments for all venues, including schools, councils, community centres, and private events. We understand that many venues require safety documentation before confirming bookings, and we’re happy to supply all necessary paperwork.
Our risk assessments cover everything from setup area checks and weather safety to electrical setup and supervision guidelines. Each assessment is based on the BS EN 14960 standard for inflatable safety and our own detailed Safety Policy.
If your venue has its own specific form or format, just get in touch — we’ll complete and return it promptly to keep your booking on track.
Are the electrics PAT tested?
Yes — all electrical equipment supplied by Carson’s Castles is fully PAT tested (Portable Appliance Tested) in accordance with UK safety regulations. This includes all blowers, extension leads, and any electrical accessories used during setup.
We carry out regular inspections and maintain up-to-date testing records to ensure all equipment remains safe and compliant. You can view our latest PAT testing certificate or request documentation for schools, councils, or event venues by contacting us.
To learn more about our testing and maintenance routines, see our Safety Policy or browse our Safety & Compliance FAQs.
Are you insured?
Yes — Carson’s Castles holds full £10 million public liability insurance that covers all of our inflatables, soft play equipment, and event services across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
This policy protects both you and your venue during hire and includes coverage for schools, councils, and community events. We’re happy to provide a copy of our insurance certificate upon request — just get in touch before your booking if your venue requires documentation.
For full details of our testing and safety checks, see our Safety Policy and Safety & Compliance FAQs.
My hall has strict times — can you deliver or collect around them?
Yes — we regularly work with community halls, schools, and event venues that have strict access times. Just let us know your venue’s opening and closing times when booking, and we’ll schedule your delivery and collection around them.
At Carson’s Castles, we offer a specific-time delivery option for £5 if you need an exact setup or collection time. This is perfect for hall hires that only allow access during certain hours.
We’ll always do our best to accommodate your venue’s requirements — whether that means setting up early in the morning or collecting promptly after your booking ends. Just mention your timing needs in the booking notes or message us directly before confirming your hire.
I only want the castle for a few hours — is it cheaper?
Our prices are based on a full-day hire, so the cost remains the same even if you only need the bouncy castle for a few hours. This is because our delivery, setup, and collection process takes the same amount of time and planning, no matter how long the castle is in use.
However, if you’re hiring for a short hall booking or indoor venue with limited access hours, we can often schedule setup and collection to suit your slot. We’ll always try to accommodate your timings wherever possible.
For longer hires or multi-day bookings, we do offer discounted rates — just get in touch to discuss the best price for your event.
Do you provide soft play or indoor packages?
Yes — at Carson’s Castles, we have a wide range of soft play hire options and complete indoor party packages perfect for halls, community centres, and nurseries across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
Our themed soft play sets include everything from pink and white & grey to blue disco and jungle designs — all supplied with matching ball pits, ride-ons, and slides.
We also offer indoor party packages that combine soft play with our smaller bouncy castles — ideal for younger children or when outdoor setups aren’t suitable due to weather or space limits.
To check availability or build your own custom package, get in touch and we’ll help tailor the perfect setup for your venue.

What happens if you’re running late or there’s traffic?
At Carson’s Castles, we always plan our routes carefully to make sure deliveries and collections run smoothly. However, on busy weekends or when there’s heavy traffic, delays can occasionally happen — especially during peak summer events.
If we’re ever running behind schedule, we’ll contact you straight away with an updated arrival time. Our team will still make sure you get your full hire period, even if setup is slightly later than planned.
We use real-time route tracking and leave early for bookings with tight access or venue deadlines, so you can relax knowing your event is in good hands. If your venue has fixed times for setup or collection, just let us know in advance and we’ll prioritise your slot.
Weather & Safety
Will you still come if it rains?
Yes — we still deliver if it rains lightly, but your safety always comes first. Most bouncy castles are made from waterproof PVC, so a light shower isn’t usually a problem. However, if the surface becomes slippery or conditions turn unsafe, we may postpone or cancel your booking for everyone’s safety.
At Carson’s Castles, we offer a free rearrangement policy on rainy days. If the forecast looks bad, we’ll happily move your booking to a new date at no cost. In some cases, we may still attend if conditions are safe, but if we decide to cancel, we’ll do so at our own expense.
For a detailed breakdown of our weather policy, safety advice, and what to do if it rains during your hire, read our full article: What Happens If You Hire a Bouncy Castle and It Rains?
🌧️ If you’re unsure about your booking or the weather forecast, please get in touch and we’ll help you decide the safest option.
Will you still come if it’s windy?
Safety is our top priority at Carson’s Castles. We will not set up a bouncy castle if wind speeds exceed safe limits — this includes strong gusts or sudden changes in conditions. UK safety guidelines (BS EN 14960) state that inflatables must not be used when wind speeds reach or exceed 24 mph (38 km/h).
We actively monitor forecasts before every hire and use professional wind gauges on-site. If winds are too strong, we’ll rearrange your booking free of charge for another suitable date. Your safety always comes first.
For a detailed explanation of how wind affects inflatables and what precautions we take, read our full guide: Can Bouncy Castles Be Put Up in Windy Conditions?
🌬️ Check our live wind tracker on the Carson’s Castles homepage before your event for real-time updates.
Can bouncy castles be used in hot weather?
Yes — bouncy castles can be used safely in hot weather, provided a few simple precautions are taken. During summer, the inflatable surface can get warm under direct sunlight, so always check that it’s not too hot to the touch before allowing children to play.
Whenever possible, set up the castle in a shaded area or use a sun canopy to reduce heat build-up. Make sure children take regular water breaks and avoid prolonged play during peak temperatures. If the inflatable feels hot, pause use until it cools down.
At Carson’s Castles, we carry out full safety checks before every hire and offer advice on how to keep your event safe in the heat. For a detailed guide on summer safety and setup tips, visit our full article: Is a Bouncy Castle Safe to Use in Hot Weather?

FAQ - Nightclub and Party Tents
How many people does the inflatable nightclub hold?
We offer several sizes of inflatable nightclubs, and the capacity depends on how spacious or lively you want your event to feel. Below is a general guide for comfortable use:
- 12x12ft Nightclub – around 10–15 people
- 12x15ft Nightclub – around 15–20 people
- 15x15ft Nightclub – around 20–30 people
- 15x20ft Nightclub – around 30–40 people
The numbers above are based on a comfortable party setup with space for dancing and lighting equipment. If you’re unsure which size suits your event best, get in touch with Carson’s Castles and we’ll help you choose the perfect fit.
Is the inflatable nightclub waterproof?
Our inflatable nightclubs are not fully waterproof, but they are water-resistant. The roof is made from a thick cotton-style material that helps keep light rain out; however, during heavier rain some water may enter, especially through small wear-and-tear holes that can develop from regular setup and deflation.
If bad weather is forecast, we can provide a tarpaulin cover to go over the roof for added protection. Please mention this in your booking notes or contact us in advance so we can include it with your hire.
Is the inflatable nightclub warm, or can you provide heaters?
Our inflatable nightclubs are designed to hold temperature well all year round. In the summer months, they can get warm inside — especially during the day when temperatures reach 30°C or more — so we recommend using them later in the evening for comfort.
During the winter, the nightclubs naturally trap heat and usually stay comfortably warm without any extra equipment. However, we do offer optional heater hire add-ons for colder evenings to keep your guests cosy throughout the event.
Does the inflatable nightclub come with lights?
Yes — all our inflatable nightclubs come with a T-bar lighting rig as standard. Each setup includes four high-quality party lights, creating the perfect nightclub atmosphere inside your inflatable tent.
The exact light types can vary between setups, but we always guarantee a bright, enjoyable experience with a mix of effects such as strobes, colour washes, and rotating party beams. Every hire includes a complete lighting setup ready to plug in and party.
Does the inflatable nightclub come with a speaker or sound system?
Yes — our inflatable nightclubs include a powerful Bluetooth party speaker as standard, so you can connect your phone or playlist easily. The setup provides excellent sound for both small gatherings and larger events.
Can the inflatable nightclub be used in the rain or cold weather?
Yes — our inflatable nightclubs are fully waterproof and can be used safely in light to moderate rain. The material and sealed roof keep the inside dry so the party can carry on whatever the weather.
In colder weather, we can supply electric heaters to keep the inside warm and comfortable. For heavy rain or strong winds, we may reschedule your hire free of charge to ensure safety.
Do you offer overnight hire for party tents?
Yes — overnight hire for our inflatable party tents is available for an additional £40, subject to safe weather conditions and a secure location for overnight setup. Collection is the next morning.
To add overnight hire to your booking, add it during checkout or contact us.
